{"id":1439,"date":"2007-11-08T18:19:59","date_gmt":"2007-11-08T22:19:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.prefblog.com\/?p=1439"},"modified":"2007-11-08T18:19:59","modified_gmt":"2007-11-08T22:19:59","slug":"gwopre-gwoprx-issuer-bid-update-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prefblog.com\/?p=1439","title":{"rendered":"GWO.PR.E \/ GWO.PR.X Issuer Bid Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This has been rather a boring topic to update this year; in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prefblog.com\/?p=1030\">my last update<\/a> I noted that there had been no purchases, unlike the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prefblog.com\/?p=619\">good old days<\/a> of substantial purchases.<\/p>\n<p>GWO has recently released their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greatwestlifeco.com\/english\/news\/lifeco_11_01_2007.pdf\">Third Quarter Financials<\/a> and, at last, we see some activity on this front, albeit not much.<\/p>\n<p>In their Statement of Cash Flows, page 10 of the PDF, they have indicated that $1-million was spent to purchase and cancel preferred shares in the third quarter; note 12 to the financials, on page 25 of the PDF, indicates that this represents the cancellation of 40,400 shares of GWO.PR.E\u00a0(so there&#8217;s obviously some rounding of the cash amount!).<\/p>\n<p>Not much, perhaps, but we are reminded on page 24, Note 11(b), of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.prefblog.com\/?p=995\">redemption of GWL.PR.L<\/a> subsequent to quarter-end, which was worth $50-million.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This has been rather a boring topic to update this year; in my last update I noted that there had been no purchases, unlike the good old days of substantial purchases.
