{"id":52525,"date":"2026-09-05T20:44:11","date_gmt":"2026-09-06T00:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prefblog.com\/?p=52525"},"modified":"2026-09-05T20:44:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-06T00:44:11","slug":"september-4-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prefblog.com\/?p=52525","title":{"rendered":"September 4, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/09\/04\/economy\/us-jobs-report-august\">US job numbers were good<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The US labor market in August roused from its early summer slumber by adding 162,000 jobs, more than double what economists had expected, while the unemployment rate remained at 4.1%, new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed Friday.<\/p>\n<p>August\u2019s job gains \u2013 which are the strongest since March \u2013 mark a sharp rebound from July\u2019s tally, which was revised up to a 21,000-job gain from a 23,000-job loss. June was also revised upwards, adding 31,000 positions. That\u2019s up from the original estimate of 20,0000.<br \/><b>&#8230;<\/b><br \/>Wage growth slowed again in August, landing at an annual rate of 3.1%, a fresh five-year low. And it\u2019s also the fourth month in a row that Americans\u2019 pay gains are being outpaced by overall inflation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8230; while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/business\/article-statscan-to-release-labour-force-survey-for-august-today\/\">in the frozen North<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The previously hot labour market stalled out to end the summer with a loss of 42,000 jobs in August, Statistics Canada said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The unemployment rate held steady at 6.4 per cent last month, the agency said.<br \/><b>&#8230;<\/b><br \/>StatCan said there was little change in the private sector and self-employment in August, but the public sector shed 20,000 positions in its third straight month of losses.<\/p>\n<p>The business, building and other support services sector led declines, followed by public administration, natural resources and utilities.<br \/><b>&#8230;<\/b><br \/>The manufacturing industry has been hit hard by U.S. tariffs but the sector proved to be a surprise pocket of strength in August with a gain of 22,000 jobs.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And for those seeking a little comic relief &#8230; Trump is touting a new trade war &#8230; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/business\/article-trump-threatens-trade-cut-off-with-some-countries-if-fed-doesnt-cut\/\">targetting the Federal Reserve<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said that unless the Federal Reserve cut interest rates, he would stop trading with countries with which the United States had a deficit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHigh interest rates put the U.S.A. at a very unfair disadvantage, and I won\u2019t allow that to happen!\u201d said Trump, who has repeatedly demanded that the Fed cut rates.<\/p>\n<p>The Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday reported stronger-than-expected job creation in August, prompting traders to boost bets on a hike later this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should have the LOWEST RATE of any country in the World &#8230; LOWER THE RATE OR I\u2019LL STOP TRADING WITH COUNTRIES WITH WHICH WE HAVE A DEFICIT,\u201d Trump said in a Truth Social post.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I must admit, I am looking forward to the
