{"id":6711,"date":"2009-06-01T19:17:11","date_gmt":"2009-06-01T23:17:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.prefblog.com\/?p=6711"},"modified":"2009-06-01T19:17:11","modified_gmt":"2009-06-01T23:17:11","slug":"june-1-2009","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prefblog.com\/?p=6711","title":{"rendered":"June 1, 2009"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Econbrowser<\/i>&#8216;s James Hamilton has put together a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.econbrowser.com\/archives\/2009\/05\/more_papers_on.html\">very good collection of links regarding the Credit Crisis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Treasuries got hit today, with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/apps\/news?pid=20601009&#038;sid=a41IUtWycrhY&#038;refer=bond\">Bloomberg story suggesting a cyclical shift<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMoney is rotating out of Treasuries and into other areas,\u201d said Thomas Roth, head of U.S. government-bond trading in New York at Dresdner Kleinwort, one of 16 primary dealers that trade with the Federal Reserve. \u201cThere has been a tremendous flight into Treasuries over the past year and if things get better we will see a flight out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The yield on the benchmark 10-year note rose 20 basis points, or 0.20 percentage points, to 3.67 percent at 4:03 p.m. in New York, according to BGCantor Market Data. The yield earlier rose as much as 27.74 basis points, the most since advancing 32.97 basis points on Oct. 8. The 3.125 percent security due in May 2019 dropped 1 5\/8, or $16.25 per $1,000 face value, to 95 1\/2.<\/p>\n<p>Ten-year yields have risen more than 165 basis points since falling to a record low of 2.03 percent last year.<\/p>\n<p>The yield on the 30-year bond climbed 18 basis points to 4.53 percent.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8230; and <i>Across the curve<\/i> <a href=\"http:\/\/acrossthecurve.com\/?p=5875\">agrees<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I  also believe that we are seeing a reversal of the flight to quality. Investors had piled into risk averse government bonds and they are now fleeing them for equities and investment grade corporate bonds. The change of heart could not come at a worse time as it collides with the massive financing  needs of the US Government.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Place yer bets, gents!<\/p>\n<p>June got off to a
